BCP (OTC) and PCOS

I have two questions that are somewhat related:

I was diagnosed in '98 by my PCP based on FSH/LH level from bloodwork and missed periods. I was told that BCP would take care of the problem and was put on OTC. The only other thing that I was told was then if and when I wanted to get pregnant I would might have a hard time. I started gaining weight the moment I went on OTC, about 10 lbs a year. I moved and when I told my new doctor that I had PCOS she asked if they had taken a ultrasound, when I said no, she said that I couldn't have PCOS. Since I was on BCP (and therefore not missing periods) she didn't persue anything further. When I complained about the weight she told me to exercise more because its never been proven that BCP causes weight gain and its just a myth. I've recently moved again and have decided to take this opportunity to get to the bottom of this PCOS thing and have done some reading on it. I am fairly convinced that my first doctor was right. I went to see my latest PCP and she seemed fairly informed even mentioning the possibility of met (although she did keep me on OTC). But she wanted new blood tests even though I had the results of my old doctors with me from '98. So here are my questions: 1) Will being on BCP (OTC) affect the results of the FSH/LH blood tests? Also she said it didn't matter what day of my cycle that I had them done, is this right? 2) Has anyone else had a weight gain problem from going on BCP specifically OTC? And if so, did it go away when you got off of it. Or is it probably just when PCOS started to kick in?

I tried searching the archives but couldn't find this...Thanks, Liza
