Dear Dr Sam, I am having a HSG or hysterosalpingogram next week tuesday - thats where they inject an orange dye into the uterus and check out the fallopian tubes etc. I am taking metformin 3000mg every day and have been told to stop this 2 days before because it reacts with the ORANGE dye and can be dangerous. Just wanted to check with Dr Sam if this is ok or is it too late at 2 days before? when should I stop taking the metformin before the HSG as I am on a very high dose and how long after HSG can I restart the metformin? Also I have a hydrosalphinx about 4 cm long in the left fallopian tube detected by ultra sound scan 2 weeks ago - what is this and is it ok to have HSG with this ? Many Thanks Dr Sam Nicky
