Hello--I can't say that I have any more suggestions for you --except
that I am also trying to see if I have PCOS. What labs did the Dr. run
on you to determine if you had PCOS??? Three yrs ago my Dr. told me I
had it but only ran one blood test--at that point I was trying to get
pregnant and then persude infertily treatments, got pregnant with
treatments, and then got pregnant on my own again 5months after my first
daughter was born--now my second daughter is 10 months old and my
periods are acting funny again. I went for an ultrasound today to see
what is going on--but won't get the results until end of week.
Did they say what caused you to passed out?
>I have not talked on this list before, however I have been reading it with much intrest for the last month. I have not been to your specific Dr. either, however I feel like I can relate. My problems started about 5 weeks ago....I passed out at work, I am a nurse, and went to draw some blood and fell right on my pt. My Dr. that I work for made my husband take me to the hospital, where they told me my blood count was almost 0........I had not had my period for almost 3 months, and had just started bleeding for the first time again......they sent me from the ER home, but had to see an OBgyn in the morning....I saw one, who looked at my labs and diagnosed me with PCOS.......said I needed and ultrasound and more labs.....which I went for, and she said I was fine....however, I am in SOOOO much pain...all the time...so my dearest husband took me to yet another DR....who sent me for yet another ultrasound, and lab work.....they said again that I have PCOS...but that there isnt anything to do
> for it, but go on birth control, but they cant start me on that till they have my cycles more figured out.
> Well I went back to work on Monday, that afternoon the first obgyn called, and said I shouldnt be at work, and I need to go home and rest, till I saw another Dr. BUT no dr. can get me in to see them until Sept. 4th...this is my 4 th week of almost deadly pain, I lay in bed and here on my recliner, day after day, crying and screaming in pain........my kids dont even think they have a mommy anymore.....is there anything that I can do? Should I go back to the ER....can anyone help me.......I am in so much pain, and so confused........

>Has anybody on this list seen Dr. Ehrmann (Endocrinologist with a research emphasis on PCOS) at University of Chicago Hospitals? I felt he totally misled me. The first time that he saw me he suggested that i would be a good candidate for Met. I mentioned that my blood sugar has always shown up normal and he suggested that the fasting glucose tolerance test would be the best diagnostic tool for me. His student dr. confirmed that in a detailed chat with Dr. Ehrmann, the latter had suggested Met to help with the insulin resistance.

>Imagine my surprise when on my 2nd visit, Dr. E suggests Diet and Exercise (it seemed like I was in twilight zone to hear this coming from an 'authority' on PCOS!) but no Met! I was taken aback. I mentioned that I eat legumes, complex carbs only and burn 662 calories 5-6 days a week. Weight loss is just not happening in my case!

>It was only when I got home that I realised we didn't have my fasting glucose tolerance (that best diagnostic tool) results as yet!! To put it mildly, I am upset and feel cheated. All the time the the Dr. was in the room, his expression told me that I was not asking him the right question. He was not willing to explain anything to me. Most questions were answered with, "No I couldn't say this...or that." I am confused as to what he did say....but it sure seemed like he didn't have any information to volunteer. Wonder what happened to him between the detailed discussion with his assistant and coming into the room to see me?
