Re: New to PCOS, confused and a little scared

Dear Lauren,

I can completely understand how a diagnosis of PCOS could leave you feeling confused and scared. I felt the same way when I was diagnosed. Compounding those feelings were the insensitive/inept doctors I encountered. Don't let them overwhelm you with negativity. Yes, many women with PCOS struggle with infertility, but many go on to have children. They have some powerful medications/procedures to assist you if you do encounter problems with your fertility. Read some of the achived messages posted here. Not only will you see many PCOSers announce pregnancies, but you will find other women who are feeling some of the feelings you are. My best advice is to educate yourself as much as you can. It is kind of sad, but I feel like I have to "arm" myself with facts and studies every time I go to see the doctor so they can't sell me a load of bull. If you can advocate for yourself and shop around for a decent doctor it makes PCOS much easier to manage. This board is a terrific place to ask questions, as there are so many great women here who have been through it all!

Good luck to you,

--
Amy
