I work as a nurse in a pediatric clinic and the doctor uses the ratio all the time to diagnose hyperinsulinism. You simply divide your glucose level by your insulin level (these need to be fasting)-----if your result is 4 or below, you have hyperinsulinism. The doctor I work with treats this condition with Glucophage, usually 5oo mg twice a day along with diet and exercise. I hope this helps----the subject has sparked my interest because I have the symptoms too and I'm awaiting my insulin level results.
