ACTOS and PCOSFrom: Meg (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Jul 2003 14:31:08 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed two years ago with PCOS but cannot seem to get a handle on the situation. I have been seeing my endocrinologist (Dr. Charles Glueck) off and on and am so discouraged I can hardly see straight. The med he put me on, Glucophage, makes me so ill that I can't function. After several months of it, I finally took myself off and ignored my returning symptoms. Now, he wants to put me on ACTOS. He said I might gain weight, however, and I don't think I can EMOTIONALLY handle that at this moment in time. If anyone is taking ACTOS, could you please tell me if there was weight gain and if so, how much? Is it significant? I know I can't ignore PCOS anymore. It's been 19 months since I've had a period and I'm heading into dangerous territory, I know. Please help!
