Re: new to PCOSFrom: Brooke (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Jul 2003 03:06:23 +0000
Patti , yes, doctors argue with me about loosing weight, but with PCOS it is a proven fact that we gain excess weight and it takes a great effort to loose it. I have never tried many diets, like low, or no, I usually just go by calories. I have a bad stomach, so like I couldnt' do a low-carb. because breads and like bake potatos are two things I can handle. But whatever works, on the internet they have a lot of low-carb. for PCOS, but I have never tried it. I went to the doctor last night and he said I am ready to go for surgery, I had to loose 20 pounds first, but I am still waiting on insurance approval. Yes, I am young, one of the big factors that lead me to surgery. I don't want to have it, but I feel like I dont' know what else to do. You are an elementary teacher, I am a sub. right now, well last spring and this fall. I don't like do elementary though, I do mostly highschool. But I like teaching, and I am starting my Masters at the end of Aug. so I can someday teacher at the college level. Well, thanks for the prayers, I am just praying for no complications, good healing and so weight loss. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have you seen an Endrocrinologist (sp, totally wrong spelling), they usually know more about PCOS then a regular doctor. Have a great weekend, Brooke
