Need to know what to do. Please help!!From: Missy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 Jul 2003 19:35:16 -0500 (CDT)
I recently visited my doctor and asked to be tested for PCOS. The doctor drew several vials of blood and tested me for several different things. After a few days the nurse gave me my results and told me that I was insulin resistant but that if I lost weight I would be fine, and that they wanted to see me in 6-8 weeks. I really feel that I am being dismissed. Either because the doctor doesn't know much about PCOS or simply doesn't care. Either way I'm not being treated. I don't even know if the doctor thinks I have PCOS. There are several reasons why a person might be insulin resistant. I want to know if PCOS can be detected by a blood test, or do I need additional testing? Do I need to find a GYN doctor, or go back to the Internal medicine doctor I've been seeing? I don't feel like anyone cares, and I'm tired of feeling like I've been run over. There has to be more to life. I'm too young to feel this old. Please help.
