Re: pcos and gastro bypass surgeryFrom: Rita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 11 Jul 2003 00:14:53 -0500 (CDT)
>Dear Dana, > Did you ever find someone who had the gastro bypass surgery for PCOS. I am diagnosed with PCOS & have been recommended to have the surgery. I'm wondering how others did with the surgery too! Hi, I had the Open RNY Gastric bypass 3/11/2002. I have lost 147 pounds, so far. I was not diagnosed with PCOS until 11 months after my surgery. I have cysts on my ovaries, hair loss, facial hair growth and I did not have periods with out medication. I am NOT Insulin resistant. (I may have been before the weight loss). I am now seeing an Endocrinologist, I am currrently taking Metformin and Spironolactone. I started having regular periods within two weeks of the Metformin alone. I have been on it since March. I feel great. I did not have any complications from the surgery. I just wish that I had been diagnosed sooner. You can write me with any questions. Ritawls03112002@yahoo.com
