Diet and metformin

I'm having trouble with knowing what kind of diet to do, and maybe
someone here could help me. About a year ago I went on the Suzanne
Somers diet and lost 20 pounds. Then a doctor told me it was too high
in cholesterol, etc, and I was put on the traditional low fat diet. I
puffed out, so I went off that and on no diet. And I gained the rest of
the weight back. Then another doctor told me to go back on the lowfat
diet. I did, and lost 10 lbs., but really looked terrible, like I was
just so puffy everywhere. Then the doctor who put me on metformin told
me Atkins Diet was the way to go, but I feel sick eating all that fat on
Metformin, and I worry about heart disease and my cholesterol. I want
to go back to Suzanne Somers again, but worry about all the fats. Also,
someone I know was put on the Sugar Busters diet, but didn't lose on it
even though they felt good. They though it was because it is still
pretty heavy on the carbs. I have to lose, as I've gained 50 pounds in
the 6 years I've been PCOS. Help!!! I am having a very hard time
knowing how to eat, and especially how to eat high-protein, low carb in
a way that is best for my insulin sensitivity, weight problem, PCOS, and
Metformin.
