Re: Help never ending periods :(From: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Jul 2003 09:45:03 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Leece, This is exactly the same thing I've been going through. BC pills are the only thing that really helped, but like you I'm ttc. I've read alot, and basically it seems both estrogen and progesterone are too low. I'm now taking estrogen supplements, red clover, from a health food store, and progesterone cream, wild yam. They seem to be helping. The glucophage didn't fix this problem like I heard it would, except for 1 month, the very first month I took it. Also, I know what you mean about the doctors, they don't want to touch this stuff. And if they do, they bill it infertility, and my insurance doesn't pay for it. That's what happened to me with a $500 bill for labwork to look at my hormone levels. And then I found out that they can look in the normal range even when you know things are messed up, because the normal ranges are so huge. But the key is that the hormones aren't in the normal range for you. And unless the doctors really care, they won't order really precise labwork that gives a more complete picture. It is very frustrating, but hang in there.
