Re: pcos and glucophaseFrom: Jenn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 1 Jul 2003 09:26:21 -0500
First off, congratulations on your children and weight loss :) Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I wanted to comment on "Don't put your husband/boyfriend through it. They DO NOT understand and never will". That doesn't go for all men. I wouldn't have made it this far without my husband. He is very understanding, and has taken the time to research PCOS and gain knowledge of it.
> ----- Original Message ----- Hi all, I have PCOS and have two children, one is 16 and the other 6. I was only diagnosed with PCOS when I was in my 30's, so I didn't know I couldn't have them. Looking back, I see now how I was able to. I had lost weight. All web sites say the cure is weight loss, which is hard but doable. It wasn't easy. I dieted, eating only when I was hungry and the "right" foods (vegetables, chicken, fish, etc) and exercised three days a week doing one hour aerobic workouts at the fitness center. Of course, the only way to keep the weight off is to keep exercising. After I had my last child, I was in my 30's and decided no more. I have sense gained back the weight, but am determined to slim down some. I am 40 and trust me this disease doesn''t let up even then. I have only been on Glucophage XR for 9 months, but I see a great difference in all aspects. Ladies, take care of yourselves while you are younger. I didn't know about PCOS until I had cysts bursting inside me and diagnosed with hypertension. Glucophage XR will work, just give it time. Also, a good anti-depressant also helps with the mood swings and anxiety. Don't put your husband/boyfriend through it. They DO NOT understand and never will. Been there, C
