JENNI- HELLO MY NAME IS ERICA -I HAVE HAD PCOS FOR MANY YEARS NOW - I STARTED MY PERIOD AT AGE 11. I TOOK 5 DIFFERNT KINDS OF BIRTH CONTROL NONE SEEMED TO WORK SO I WAS TAKEN OFF THEM. I AM MARRIED WITH NO CHILDREN - WE HAVE TRIED FOR MANY YEARS WITHOUTREALIZING HOW HARD THIS WAS GOING TO BE. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN THROUGH TWO INVITRO PROCEDURES -BOTH HAVE FAILED. HOPE IS EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO HAVING CHILDREN WITH PCOS - I BELIEVE THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT PCOS WOMEN CAN DO TO HELP THEMSELVES. THE BIGGEST BEING TRY TO FIND A SUPPORT NETWORK OF WOMEN WHO HAVE PCOS IN YOUR AREA - FOR ME THIS HAS HELPED. IN MY TOWN RIGHT NOW MY HUSBAND AND I ARE SURROUND BY A BABY BOOM - IT'S HARD TO HAVE MUCH IN COMMON WITH ANYONE RIGHT NOW BUT HAVING MY PCOS SUPPORT GROUP HAS HELPED ME TO REALIZE THAT IT'S OKAY TO FEEL SOME OF THE FEELINGS I HAVE FELT - THE SADDNESS AND MAYBE ANGER AT TIMES. THE OTHER THING IS DIET,MED'S ARE VERY IMPORTANT ESP... THE DIET ..... IN MY CASE I WENT FROM 135 TO 234 NOW I'M BACK TO 172 ...LOW CARBS HAVE HELPED WITH THE WEIGHT. I STOPPED TAKING MEDS 2 SUMMERS AGO - I FELT AWFUL WITH THEM BUT HONESTLY I'M GOING TO GO BACK ON THEM - I'LL TRY TO FIND THE RIGHT ONES FOR ME THIS TIME. HOPEFULLY SOME DAY I CAN OFFER YOU SOME SOUND ADVICE - I CAN JUST SAY THE MISTAKES I MADE WAS NOT BEING MORE AWARE OF MY DIET AND NOT GIVING MY MED'S MORE OF A CHANCE. I havent has a period since the end of january and the one before that was in august02. I went to the doctors in september and they done loads of tests including pregnancy tests and they all came back negitive my doctor put it down to stress. So the following month i went back as i was feeling very tired and couldnt be bothered doing anything or seeing anyone so i was tested again for different things. Then in january a few days before i was due to turn 21 a doctor (a stand in doctor) phoned me and asked me to come in she told me that i wouldnt be able toi have kids as i had pocs and then said that she had another appointment that she had to keep. I was extreamly upset and didnt tell anyone for at least 2 weeks not even my boyfriend which i have been with for 5 years. Everyone now knows but at the start when they were told all i ! got from them was Oh im sorry are you okay i mean i dont want them to feel sorry for me i was going mad cause all i got was sympothy and i didnt want it. I am waiting for my appointment to come through for the scan. I dont really have any information that i can share with you but maybe you could share some with me.
