PCOS and hypothyroidism--question about meds.From: Laura24 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 24 Jun 2003 17:47:58 -0500 (CDT)
Hi! I'm 24 years old and have just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism on top of my PCOS (woohoo). I'm currently taking no medicine for my PCOS, but am on the Atkins diet trying desprately to loose weight and have had moderate success so far. The doc wants to put me on Synthroid but I've read some bad things about it. I'd love to hear some first hand testamonials. I'm also considering asking my doc to put me on the generic stuff (Levoxyl, Levothyroxine, Unithroid, or Levothroid) because it's got a way cheaper co-pay on my insurance. If anyone has opinions on these drugs, please feel free to reply. Also, will getting my hypothyroidism under control help my weight loss? Any thoughts on this are welcome. Thanks in advance! Laura24
