Metformin and pregnancy

I am new to this forum and I am sure that this question has been asked many times. After two miscarriages, I am finally 13 weeks pregnant. I have had a bad history of ovulation and PCOS. I have Metformin to thank for my success however, I am being told by my specialist that I have to get off of it because he says that there is no conclusive evidence that the baby won’t be harmed if I stay on it. In addition, he is also saying that the Metformin is there to help get you pregnant and prevent miscarriages only in the first trimester. Did anyone else here of this? Does anyone know if I am really out of the woods and the Metformin won’t help anymore? Please let me know
