Yes, you misunderstood my last sentence and apparently didn't read my whole post. We are adopting from CHINA, where there is NO birthmother, NO ONE except an orphanage staff that is overworked, underpaid, and woefully inadequate in comparison to a forever family. Of that, no one can dispute. My children may indeed come to us some day and ask of their roots (we are not of Chinese descent), and we will show them their lifebooks--from the signing of the application for adoption/letter of intent to the uniting in our arms. We will have NO medical history, NO way of knowing who their parents are or anything else. Their history will be ours; they will be part of our family from the word "go." Our soon-to-be-daughter Amanda has already been born in my heart, and is as real to me as our bio son, even though we don't have our referral yet. Please don't be quick to take offense at postings on a site like this; no offense was intended, and if you had read that we are adopting from China, my post would have made sense, even the last sentence.
