Re: Is Metformin long-term or short-term?

Hi Linda! I think the answer depends on the person. Some ladies go on Met, and are able to lose weight and subsequently control their Insulin, testosterone etc. through diet and exercise. Some will relapse as soon as they are off the drug. My physician told me when my lab work is back within normal limits, that he will lower my dose, and see if my periods remain regular and my hormones stay balanced. If they do not, then i'll be back on the drug long term. Diabetics are on Met long term without any studied problems, so if need be, PCOS ladies can be too.

Hope that helps! :o) Christy
