<<DO not put up with any side effects for longer than 4 weeks.>>

I am so sorry that you went through this. But 4 weeks isn't enough time to determine if the drug is right for all of us. It took me 3 months before I had a period and a year before I saw any significant results on Metformin, plus I had side effects (GI trouble) that whole time. But after a year, i finally saw a light at the end of my tunnel (and it wasn't a freight train! *grin*). After almost 2 years I now have a whole new lease on my life. I have lost 36 pounds, my acne is gone, I have periods every 31 days and I have so much more energy.

In a case like yours where Met didn't help and made you feel worse, of course you should go off. But in most cases 4 weeks is too soon to say if met will help or not. My hormones were out of whack for years, and it takes so long to get them back regulated again. Met is a miracle for some of us, but it is a very slow and steady miracle...not a quick thing. If the side effects are uncomfortable, but not serious like yours were, it may take more time than 4 weeks to see if it will help.

All the best! Christy
