To Dr. Sam :)

I'm 26 years old, and I have a 7-year history of severe endometriosis. I was recently diagnosed with mild PCOS.

Because of the endometriosis, I have to be on a BCP (untreated, it advanced rapidly, necessitating 2 surgeries and a warning that I would need a hysterectomy soon if it continued). I have read that BCPs can increase IR, which seems to be the underlying cause of PCOS, however.

Will taking Glucophage (or the generic, metformin) counteract the negative effect the BCP may have on the IR, particularly if combined with a healthy, balanced, low-glycemic diet?

Thank you for your advice...
