To: Dr. Sam re: Metformin, Spironolactone,From: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 May 2003 15:46:28 -0500 (CDT)
My dr prescribed Metformin and Spironolactone about a year ago for me. I've been doing well on both, however about 8 months ago, I was pregnant and miscarried around week 7. My doctor kept me on both meds and I was concered about taking both drugs while pregnant. Should I be? Because when I talked with her about it she said that both were "no big deal", and that she would have kept me on both throughtout the entire pregnancy. I've not seen that done with anyone else to date. Now I'm 36, and I was having around a 32-36 day cycle which was getting lighter. I thought I was going peri-menapausal but was wondering if the Spironolactone would be interferring with anything. We've just done the blood tests to check the hormone levels to see if I am peri-mena. and in the meantime, we're starting on Cloymid, 75mg dly on days 5-9 and I'm wondering what all these drugs are going to do to me, and should I get pregnant, my unborn child. Any advice?
-- Wendy
