Re: Does anyone LIKE the side effects...??From: anonymous@obgyn.net ("anonymous@obgyn.net")Wed, 28 May 2003 16:48:06 -0400
Hi Hope! When I was on met the first year, I also experienced weight loss. I lost nearly 50 pounds without really working at it. I don't know if I might have lost even more had I followed a diet like you're doing! I don't remember having much of a problem with side effects back then. (This was 8 years ago.) I eventually started having lots of gastric side effects after being on it over a year. This could have been contributed to many things....not taking the meds on a regular schedule as well as I had before...stress due to divorce...etc. It eventually got bad enough I told the doctor I could not take it anymore. Sadly, I've regained the weight I lost...along with some of those pounds' little "friends" adding to the numbers on the scale. *sigh* So....I'd say keep doing what you're doing! Not everyone experiences weight loss, that's true. Not everyone has side effect problems either. Gage your success by how you are feeling as a whole, not just the weight coming off. I remember having more energy once I had adjusted to the dosage. Best wishes! Shelley I am on my 3rd week at 1500 of met and my side effects have pretty well disappeared. The thing is, they were really helping my weight loss! I've lost 13 lbs. since the beginning of April with the IR diet and I fear that will stop now that I'm no longer feeling sick. I am taking 500mg 3x a day and have considered switching around the times I take my pills just to induce a reaction. I know met isn't a weight loss drug, but if it can help me with that, while also helping my PCOS, I don't mind the side effects. Please let me hear some thoughts on this! Thanks.
