Re: Glucophage - vomiting and other PCO issues

After PCOS diagnosis in January I started on 28-day Yasmin to regulate ovulation and for anti-androgen properties. After 3 months did not see any lessening of symptoms and was constantly hungry and tired, and based on information that I and my doctor had each recently read (separate sources) we decided to try 500 mg metformin and after 1 month increase.

I was taking at noon each day with my other medications. These are: Depakote 1000mg, Wellbutrin 300mg, Paxil 10mg, and the aforementioned Yasmin. Starting day 1 on glucophage i was very nauseous after taking, but this was suppressed as long as I ate something small every 2 hours the rest of the day. After 1 month I was still feeling nauseous every day and was losing quite a bit of hair. Therefore we discontinued.

One week later, my hair loss has already begun to lessen slightly but I am now vomiting 1-2 times per day. It does not seem to be related to when I take my other medication or to meals. Yesterday I ate & took meds at noon and was sick at 6pm. Today I was sick around 11am, after I felt better took meds and had sm lunch, then was sick again at 3pm.

I am in touch with my doctor but also just found this message board, so will check back in the next several days to you if you have any response/thoughts. Was it problematic to discontinue the metformin?
