Doctor's advice........From: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 12 May 2003 11:34:30 -0500 (CDT)
Hi my name is Amanda, I'm 25 yrs old and have had PCOS for the last 9 yrs. I have been seeing a fetility doctor for the last two years, after tests were completed he put me on Metformin and Spironalactone to regulate my menstrual cycles. Nine months ago my cycles did regulate to 3 weeks, and this last month my cycles have gone awry. I am technically on day 25, and I bled for 17 out of these 25 days. My doctor has now suggested that I go on Birth Control Pills, I have had a history of severe depression while using them and he has said that I'll have to see it through.I'm trying to get pregnant, and have been trying for the last 7 years. I have a 9 yr old daughter, and have had one miscarriage during treatment with clomiphene. I have tried several attempts at conception with the Clomid but there has been no success since the miscarriage. I would like to know if the Doctor is right by prescribing the Birth Control Pills, if there are any other methods of treatment that I can suggest to him. Please get back to me at your soonest avail.
