That's weird, I know it comes in generic because I am now taking the generic where I was not before. Maybe your drugstore is either unaware or else your doctor may have written the prescription specifically for the name brand. It is very expensive which is why my insurance stopped covering the name brand! If you are paying for it yourself I would suggest letting the pharmacist know that yes there is a generic version.
