Do most people lose some weight while taking Glucophage? Is it because it causes your body to process sugars/carbs more efficently? I didn't know it could cause such a dramatic weight loss (35lbs)!!

Also, what are these GI effects everyone is talking about? Do the benefits outweigh these negative effects?

Thanks so much for your reply!

If you limit your sugars, you seem to have less of the wonderful GI side effects. I however, have not done this. I've lost 35 pounds since being on the medicine, and continue to eat whatever I want. I think everyones body is different on how it reacts to this medicine. If I were to adhere to a low carb diet, I think my results would be much better. >3) My thoughts on alcohol is as follows: I drink 2-3 mixed drinks every 3-4 months. My doctor says its ok, but that I need to schedule my blood tests for several weeks after I have had alcohol. It tends to misconscrew your results. Glucophage is VERY hard on your liver and with the added affects of alcohol, you're likely to have problems down the road. >I hope this helps. If you have additional questions, let me know!
