Alternative to Glucophage

Hi...

I have recently started taking Glucophage( I believe its XP)..and have had horrible side effects ( Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscles aches, very sleepy, dizzy, trouble breathing) I called the doctor and asked him if there was another type of pill I could take for the PCOS..and was told no. Is this true?Not that I want to go second guessing my doctor...but I would hate to think that this is the only option for me...and I'm only on 500mg!!! The Doctor said to take half a pill in the morning...so I"m going to try that...but am quite scared as to what might happen. Please..if anyone has any information on a possible alternative drug that does what Glucophage does, let me know. Thank you SO much.
