I think I would wait to increase my dose until AFTER the out of town event!!! Plus, you said only the last TWO DAYS have been good....so, there is still a chance your body is making adjustments to the medication. If the method you are using (as far as WHEN you take your medication) is working fine for you, then you should probably stay with that.

Are you taking Glucophage XR (extended release type metformin)? If you are taking the "regular" metformin, then you might want to spread your dosages out during the day. This might help keep your body from suffering a "sudden shock" effect of all the medication at once and possibly help minimize side effects during the adjustment periods. As far as I understand, the XR type can be taken in one daily dose.

I'm just suggesting what had worked for me. I took the metformin for PCOS and the insulin resistance NOT for diabetes. IF you take it for diabetes or blood sugar reasons, you should discuss the dosages (when to increase, HOW to increase...take twice a day? etc, and how often you should test your blood sugar levels, etc).

Best of luck and have a great time at the wedding!

Hugs,

Shelley ============================================================== I started on metformin last week and had terrible side effects at first but the last 2 days have been really good - my doctor said to increase after 2 weeks but I'm out of town at a wedding next week and I'm afraid that if I up my dose I will have all the side effects again. Do you think its too early to increase? Also, right now I take with dinner - do most people take the other doses with lunch or take 2 with dinner??
