Dr Sam --- can you clarify a couple of things

Dr. Sam,

What do you mean by low dosage Metformin ( I am supposed to be taking 500mg, 3 times a day - acutally I am having side effects so I am breaking the pill in half and gradually plan to increase). Is 500mg x 3 low dosage?

We plan to get pregnant in the next 1-2 months after I lose a bit more weight. I am very nervous about taking Metformin during pregnancy as this medication passes over to the baby. I hope to switch to insulin after I get pregnant. Could you tell me if Metformin is considered safe? Which one is safer out of Metformin and Insulin.

You say: "Although pregnancy loss may have numerous causes, yours may have been influenced by your insulin resistance". Could you tell me how it could have been affected by insulin resistance.

Thanks, Anna
