Hi Kari,
I did gain weight after I stopped taking Wellbutrin. I was taking 10mg
of Prozac and 300mg of Wellbutrin in 2002, but reduced the Wellbutrin
down to 200mg/day at the beginning of 2003. I wanted to wean off of it
before trying to get pregnant. Well, low and behold I accidently got
pregnant the last week of 2002. I found out on Jan 21st and quit taking
it cold turkey. I gained a few pounds because of the pregnancy, but on
Feb 18 I found out it was a blighted ovum and had to have a D&C. I
started back on them a few days later cuz I was really depressed. Now
I'm trying to conceive again and stopped taking them on March 19th or
20th. I lost the pregnancy weight within a week or 2 of the D&C, but
turned to comfort foods shortly there after. I guess these extra 5 or
10 pounds are due to the fudge and ice cream, but I've been exercising
for the past 3 weeks and it's not helping. In fact, the scale is still
going up :( It may be muscle weight, but I doubt it. I do know that
Wellbutrin curbed my appetite and possibly increased my metabolism. I've
contemplated going back on it, but never do since we're trying to
conceive and there isn't enough research on it's safety during pregnancy
and I'm scared to take the chance, especially because my first pregnancy
outcome was bad.
