Dear Micha,

Your dr's position is funny at best. The complications from metformin are due in the first trimeter (neural tube defects), so if she afraid of the complications, she should be afraid during that period, not later. She is right that you are "vulnerable" to gestational diabetes (I would say prone to), so why does she want to leave it untreated and expose you and your fetus to the consequences? What do you mean be 4 weeks pregnant? At four weeks you still expect your menses? Looking forward to your info

Sam
