Re: Metformin & constipationFrom: Jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 21 Mar 2003 19:59:09 -0600 (CST)
I started Met 2 wks ago at 1000mgs (500 twice a day) and can fully sympathize with the constipation. My experience was, the 2nd day of met I was shaking terribly, vomiting and heaving, the trots and just totally miserable. I made a mistake and took a phenergan late at night after hours of vomiting only to find out that is a pill you dont take with met, but I'm ok thankfully. Since then, I've had either constipation, bad gas or just the opposite and the trots, never seem to be normal. Another thing I'm curious about, has anyone else had any of the following: cold feelings in various parts of the body, unusual blurred vision or random muscle pains? On the good side, I get some really good energy boosts and at times I feel better then ever and seem to have sharpen the thinking skills a little more. Almost like an anti-aging effect and I feel young again, hard to explain but I like it. My appetite has seriously decreased (except I'm very hungry in the am) but I force myself to eat a little here and there to not get the upset stomach, a little non-fat yogurt goes a long way it seems and keeps my stomach happy. I think in this first 2 wks I may have lost 8lbs easily. Please e-mail me with your good stories at jlbrbw@hotmail.com Take Care All, Jodi
