-- I would definitely urge you to see a specialist. An endocrinologist is a speciality Dr. that deals with hormone or other special problems. Such as insulin reisistance. Family practioners and GYN's are not specialist and can not keep up with all the new info. PCOS is a clinical diagnosis and you may not follow the typical 9 out of 10 symptoms on a list. I would also say that the information about dietary change is also incorrect. A good book is the PCOS diet book.by Colette HArris. Another is Living with PCOS by Boss and Weidman Sterling. I was diagnosed with PCOS and my endrocrinolgist suggested these books and the Zone dietby Berry sears. The most recent info does support a link between carbohydrate sensitivity and insulin resistance and PCOS. Since starting medication and the diet I have lost a Large amount of weight. The sysmptoms all have gone away and I feel finally better Then ever. Please I urge you to take a look with a specialist and get these books to understand whatPCOS is. Good luck.
