I have seen this problem firsthand, and our family suffers with the consequences of being in a sue-happy society (unaffordable insurance premiums, co-pays, and other medical expenses). It's refreshing to hear what I've been saying all along from someone outside of the US. The only ones who benefit from un-regulated medical lawsuits are the attorneys who bring them.
