Hi Kristine:

Wasn't sure if anyone ever replied to your question, but I believe this is one of the normal side effects associated with metformin. The small print on the insert mentions "gastric disturbance" as common. Normally, after the first 10-14 days of continously taking the met, the symptoms should decrease or go away altogether.

I take 850 mg 3x per day (for 2+ years now)and I still have severe and almost instantaneous stomach attacks whenever I eat Chinese food, or anything that has sauce or gravy, or anything with a high sugar content, or well almost anything.... BUT, whenever you are concerned about anything going on with your body that's not normal for you then call your doctor. (For a while there, I was talking to either my Dr. or her nurse almost weekly. I wasn't a pest, just needed answers to my questions. They were very understanding.)

You mentioned yasmin as one of your meds? What is it?

Let me know how it all goes. Good Luck! Ria
