Polycystic ovaries and metformin / domperidone (motilium)From: sally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 16 Mar 2003 09:36:12 -0600 (CST)
Hi, Does anyone know, if you are treated with metformin will the polycystic appearance of the ovaries resolve? I have been taking met for about 18 months. My latest ultrasound showed multiple (>10) subcapsular 'follicles'? less than 1 cm size on each ovary. Polycystic appearance. Ovaries appear to be larger than previous ultrasound (though I don't know that significant or not, or just ultrasound technologist difference). Does that mean that the metformin is not working? Second Q (dr sam?) - have just started taking domperidone for gastric motility problem /GERD/erosive oesophagitis/gastritis (20 mg, 3xPD) (along with proton pump inhibitor). I heard that domperidone may affect menstrual cycle (still only having 1 day & v. light period). Could this make things worse? Not trying for baby yet - still trying for partner :-)! Thanks
