This way, if it helps, you know that it is an allergic reaction to something and probably not the medicine. I am currently in my fifth week of taking metformin and have developed this rash on my chest and face that looks similar to the measles or chicken pox, but I had both of those as a child. None of the literature I have read indicates any skin reaction to metformin. I had the usual suite of GI side effects although to a lesser degree thanks to my doctor's foresight in ramping up my dosage over three weeks. I would think that this would have shown up earlier.
