Hello Sandra,

Although I am no lady (being a male ob/gyn), I can answer your questions. First of all, from what you have written, you have barely been diagnosed. You do not mention any hormone tests which should have been performed before any medication given. Your tentative diagnosis is in my mind something such as experienced after discontinuing the pill: which is so called post pill amenorrhoea. Naturally you are not post pill, but the situation is very much similar. I suppose what you describe as depo is Depo-Provera, the injecatble contraceptive. This switches off the ovulatory axis and after discontinuing it, it failes to switch on. The condition is characterised by low estrogens and low gonadotropins. So you should have a hormonal work-up in the first place and treatment second. For your info

Sam
