Insulin LevelsFrom: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Mar 2003 01:05:27 -0600 (CST)
Three years ago I was diagnosed with high insulin levels after not knowing for approx 4 years. Symptoms being sever weight gain approx 30lbs per year. I was prescribed metformin but unfortunately I did take it becuase i didnt like feeling sick, i felt better when I wasnt on it. Now 3 years later I just learned that the reason i havent been able to conceive in 5 years is due to the insulin levels. I went back to the doctor to get tested and decided I was going to take the meds this time. When I got my results I found out that three years ago when I was tested insulin was at 646 and this time it was 532. I have been reading other postings and I see completely different numbers for insulin levels some being in the teens (saying under 10 is good) others being in the 60's. My doctor says that a normal level under 100 (60-85). Now is it possible for mine to be that high or is something wrong here? everyone tells me that it doesnt seem right. I just had regular blood test with several tubes of blood removed. What test could she have done? and if it is that high what are the risks?? I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks and sorry so long, Jen
