Metformin ... newly dxFrom: Jenn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Feb 2003 15:39:50 -0600 (CST)
I am new to this board and am having a difficult time reading and posting so I am hoping this goes through. I was just recently DX with PCOS. I was originally DX with Pseudotumor Cerebri (PTC/BIH) and apparently PCOS sometimes goes hand in hand with it. Anyway, after not having a period in over 4 years (maybe an hour here or there every 6 months) they decided to look into the PCOS. Now, here I am 2 weeks into the Metformin and I really don't know that much about it. I am on 500 mg now until Saturday and then I'll go to 1000 mg. I have an appointment with my OB on Wednesday to discuss other meds as well. How long did it take for your dr's to put you on meds? My endocrinologist put me on mine and THEN I see my OB dr. What is Metformin really for anyway?
