Re: Glucophage and breastfeedingFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 3 Feb 2003 14:08:28 -0600 (CST)
After finding this information my daughter's doctor gave the go-ahead for me to go back on my Metformin while I was breastfeeding her (we breast fed for 10 months - the first 6 months were exclusive). Here is a link to a study that you might want to print out for your doctors. I hope this helps! http://neonatal.ama.ttuhsc.edu/lact/html/metformin.html My daughter has been a very healthy child. She's been right about the 50th percentile for height and weight so far (she just turned 2) and her verbal and motor skills are at or ahead of schedule. When all the other kids at daycare are having to stay home because of illness, she's only missed one day because of a chicken pox scare. I can't speak for all, but we never had a problem with Met/Breastfeeding.
