This is a very difficult question, and very few in the gyne community could give you a detailde answer on this.
You are righ, Provera (or the depo form of it) is a contraceptive. But according to my research, if you take it at a point of time, when a mature follicle is present it would not block ovulation, it even enhances it. So I have been using it instead of the usual HCG shot to induce follicular rupture with ultrasound timing.
Naturally if you get your bleeding after ceasing Provera, you can't be pregnant.
