Provera and getting pregnantFrom: Deanna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Jan 2003 10:02:19 -0600 (CST)
Does anyone know the chances of getting pregnant while on or after taking Provera for the 10 day cycle? It seems to me that it wouldn't increase my chances since they use Provera for contraception (depo-provera). I asked my doctor months ago and I believe he said that I shouldn't worry about it and that it will be very hard for me to conceive naturally. I think I have a pretty severe case of PCOS. I never have my periods without taking provera or the pill. It has been this way my whole life and I am now 32. I have the weight around my stomach area, hair growth, anxiety, etc.. All the classic symptoms of PCOS. I have sex with my fiancee' without birth control or condoms and never get pregnant. We are getting married Nov 2003 and I don't want to be pregnant before we are married. I don't think that I am going to be able to conceive without medical help but I am curious about what Provera does to my chances of conceiving. If I was to get pregnant while taking the provera would I just not have the period that normally comes 1-5 days after I take the meds? If I do have a period does that mean I am not pregnant? I get so confused on all these meds and what is or will happen. Any advice would be great! :) Deanna
