Hi Chele:

Actually, my understanding is that it's not strictly forbidden to drink whilst on Glucophage -- you're just not supposed to drink to excess (more than usual). Alcohol does have a detrimental effect on the liver, and it's chock-full of carbs, but it's not disallowed. The stickers on the medication bottles are, for simplicity's sake, abbreviated -- if you go to the Glucophage Web site (don't have it in front of me), the "rules" are spelled out more completely.
