Kerri:

I am 37 and have been treated for severe pcos since age 18. At 30, I had my daughter with Clomid and nursed her successfully for 2 1/2 years. There were no problems at all; the milk supply was fine. Nursing is very rewarding, but sadly, many doctors do not encourage mothers to nurse through the problems. My only suggestion would be for nursing mothers to contact La Leche League International for help with any problems. Chances are, your friend's problems were caused by something other than pcos. Most unsuccessful nursing is caused by mothers not nursing on demand and not eating and drinking enough to keep up their milk supply. Good luck!
