Hi Price,

First thanks for caring enough to write in.

First, you don't say how old you are or how long you have been trying to have a child. A reproductive endocrinologist would be appropriate if you have been trying for a year to have a child under the age of 35. Anything over, its 6 months. The doctor you are dealing with does not understand PCOS. The best way to go would depend on your insurance. If you qualify for the reproductive endocrinologist, go to one. Otherwise, using the insurance list as a guide, call the doctors' offices for obgyn's and/or endocrinologists and see who treats PCOS with Metformin. Specifically ask for the Metformin as a treatment.

Btw, there are other things that might help: styles of eating, exercise, and don't forget the folic acid. :)

My wife has pcos. Her doc has only perscried Ovacon50 to regulate her period which with out it is constant for months on end. We currently wish to have a child, but can not get her cycle regulated enough as far as the doc is concerned to start her on clomid. He also dismiss all suggestion about looking at Metformin or similar drugs as too new. What should I do to get better treatment for her?? New doc? Endocrinologist? I don't know how to aproch this and I don't think she is being treated right.
