Hi Amy,

I started GlucophageXR in April of this year. In Jan. I started following a low carb lifestyle. I went from 247 to 216 and felt great. Then in June I switched to the generic Metformin, to save money. Well the weight started to return and my struggle was harder. I asked for Glucophage reg. to see what would happen and my insurance refused as there is a generic available. Right away on the GlucophageXR 2000 mg the weight is coming off. I had climbed to 222 and after 2 weeks I was 217 this morning. I will continue to low carb and exercise as a lifestyle change that is good for me.

The way to DX Insulin resistance is to have a Glucose tolerance test. IR is really pre-diabetes. The normal blood test fasting blood sugar isn't enough, you need to then have a carbohydrate drink. wait 2-3 hours and have these results compared.

There are major health risks to untreated IR.
