Re: what is Diane 35

Diane 35 is a contraceptive pill. I don't know if women generally do take this cyproterone acetate alone... but I suppose some must. I have read that side effects include weight gain and ammenoreah (no periods) but I don't know how common these are. I would imagine that most of the women taking these pills would be predisposed to PCOS and therefore these "side effects" might have nothing to do with the medication.

CA is an anti-androgen and therefore should not be taken while pregnant or trying to conceive. I'm an surprised your doctor didn't mention this, unless you have not told him you are trying to concieve. To be honest I don't think you are going to find any medical treatment that will allow you to specifically tackle the excess hair AND become pregnant. Anti-androgens are out because they can cause birth defects, and birth control pills are out for obvious reasons.

Laser can do wonders for excess hair - but works best only when you have gotten things under control medically, too.

How long have you been on the metformin? Some women do see a reduction in body/facial hair with the met. I saw a reduction while I was on the name-brand stuff, but all my symptoms came back when I was switched to generic. Waiting to see if the hair lessens again, now that i am back on the name brand. When I noticed my reduction, though, I had been on the met for maybe 5-6 months... if you have been on it for a while and noticed no effect, it may not help much in that area. If you haven't been on it long... well, keep up hope, maybe it will help some!

Finally, diet and exercise really can have an impact on your body hair. I know it's hard, but metformin is not the only way to get your insulin levels and hormones under control. Lifestyle changes will help the meds work even better.

You really may have to choose at this point which you care about more right now, having a third child or reducing unwanted body hair, since the two goals are largely incompatable. Laser may be an option, but anti-androgens are not a good idea. Maybe anti-androgens and adoption, if it is really a child you want, and not just the experience of being pregnant again?
