Hi Doctor Sam. I'm 38 years old and I've been on 1850mg/day of metformin for the past two and 1/2 years. Along with a very healthy diet the met has helped me to lose a lot of weight, attain very regular menstrual cycles( for the 1st time in my life) and feel generally much better overall. However, since going on the metformin my testosterone has tripled to 114 (no ovarian tumors), my prolactin has increased from 35 to 42 (normal MRI), my cholesterol has risen 60 points and I am still anovulatory. Do you have any ideas about this situation. I expected these things to improve since I seem to be responding so well to the met. My Gyn and RE have not given me any insight into this situation. Thanks.
