Re: No response to PergonalFrom: anonymous@obgyn.net ("anonymous@obgyn.net")Thu, 7 Nov 2002 10:47:36 -0500
Hi Jenn.... Since it's been nearly 12 years ago that I was on Pergonal, I don't recall everything exactly. I was also going to a doctor that, with what I know now, didn't keep me as informed as I could have been. I know that he kept upping the dosage and pumping me full of pergonal for over 18 days!!! That cycle wasn't successful. I was on Pergonal and Metrodin at least four or five cycles. Most cycles, I was lucky to have just ONE follicle stimulated...although one cycle I did have two. (I dreamt of having twins....as my mom is one....but that was one of the failed cycles.) I didn't have an option of where to get the injection. My doctor insisted on the hip, and on having an RN or one of his office staff do it....not my husband or myself. This meant a lot of shuffling of schedules and an irritated boss.....but eventually there was an end. If you're concerned about the pain in the hip....what worked for me, since someone else was giving it, was to stand on my other leg and bend over slightly.....a counter top or the exam room table was just about perfect height by the time I leaned on my elbows on it.....and then concentrate on relaxing the "target" hip....maybe slow deep breaths or something. It doesn't sound unreasonable to me, the doctor upping the dosage. I know I was taking higher dosages of Pergonal, although I don't recall how much. I think it was 2 ampules per day....but the ampules also come in different strengths, I believe. Hang in there. *HUG* It's certainly a roller coaster.....but we're here to encourage you and support you in whatever your results will be. Hugs Shelley After taking Pergonal shots for 4 days (2 ampules)I had zero folicle growth and a very low estrogen level. So my RE has doubled my dose for another 4 days. He also changed the location of the injection from the leg to the hip. Has anyone else experienced a zero response to Pergonal on the first try? -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://mail2web.com/ . -- --------------------------------------------------------------------
