Gastric Bypass and PCOSFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 29 Oct 2002 12:51:04 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed with PCOS Septmber 2001. They put me on a max dose of glucophage but it was not helping. I was referred by my primary physican to see a surgeon. The surgeon has suggested that I get a Roun En Y Gastric Bypass as I am currently weighing in excess of 470lbs and am 5'8". He feels as though this will reverse or even cure my PCOS making it possible for me to finally ovulate and conceive. I was wondering could this bypass surgery really reverse my PCOS and what could there be possible side effects to the surgery due to the PCOS. I want eventually conceive but fear that I am running out of time.
